Taco Seasoning

Ever have that moment when you are sure that you have everything for a recipe and then you realize you are out of one key ingredient.  To top it of you are in the middle of cooking, so it's not like you can just run to the store to pick up a measly packet of Taco Seasoning at this very moment.  Oh what to do without that precious packet of Taco Seasoning???  Wait, isn't Taco Seasoning just a few different spices thrown together with a bunch of crap you can't pronounce and individually packaged?  Um, yeah, pretty sure it is.  So couldn't I just mix all of those individual spices together and use that instead?  Absolutely!  Bonus: You lose all the filler junk & you save $$!

I now keep a jar of this in my cupboard and add two Tablespoons to any recipe that calls for a packet of Taco Seasoning.  You can alter it to suit your tastes.  Enjoy!

Homemade Taco Seasoning

8 tbsp chili powder
6 tbsp + 2 tsp paprika
6 tbsp cumin
4 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1/4 +/- tsp cayenne
2 tbsp flour
2 tsp salt
2 tsp black pepper

Mix all the spices together and store in an airtight container.
